Climatune: Playlists for Different Types of Weather
What happens when Spotify and Accuweather collaborate on a project? You get the world’s largest-scale research that has ever tried to find out the relationship between the prevailing weather and what people listen to.
Spotify is a highly popular music streaming service, while Accuweather is a prominent weather forecasting company. Using billions of music streams and a year’s worth of data from almost 1,000 weather stations worldwide, these two companies have given us Climatune.
We know you’ve always suspected that there is such a correlation, right? We mean, would you really listen to David Bowie’s Let’s Dance on a gloomy rainy afternoon? Or to Johnny Cash’s Hurt when it’s bright and sunny outside?
Climatune lets you stream music tracks that are the most listened to during certain weather in different cities. And as an added bonus, you get a some interactivity with the screen in 3D, like catch snowflakes with a teddy’s tongue or create colorful sparkles with a magic wand.
Find out what Parisians are listening to on cloudy days or Sydneysiders when it’s raining on the Climatune site.
