Scirra's IE10 Review: Still Disappointing for HTML5 Games

HTML5 Game Engine maker Scirra has posted a somewhat scathing review of IE10 performance when it comes to HTML5 Games.

What makes the piece interesting is that IE10’s Canvas performance is being compared to WebGL 2D performance in Chrome and Firefox, and it’s not pretty, even though Scirra’s Construct 2 is 2D only.

As WebGL becomes more stable and available in more browsers (with the exception of IE) more HTML5 Game Engines (even 2D ones) are supporting it as a rendering engine using it for all the goodies (high performance, shader, particle and post-processing effects) it brings to the table.

It’s going to be hard for IE to keep up without adding in WebGL support, something which they have neither confirmed nor rejected as of yet.
