Mobile performance tests: HTML5 vs. Flash (AIR)

With iOS 5 finally getting a hardware accelerated 2D canvas and becoming a viable platform for writing mobile HTML5 games, it’s interesting to take a look at the performance of Canvas vs. Flash (AIR).

esDot studio has done just that, with a nice write and graph showing Canvas 2D vs. Flash on the iPhone, iPad and Android-based Motorola Xoom.

The results say that Canvas is getting there quite nicely on iOS, although still not at quite the speed of AIR apps. Canvas 2D on the Xoom, on the other hand needs to find a rock to crawl under. Where can I sign the petition to get some hardware acceleration on Android Canvas?
